The inclusive curriculum tool kit is practical approach to embedding inclusivity in learning and teaching. It is UON-focused and specific, founded on the university principles of inclusivity and social impact, and takes an “inclusive approach to inclusivity”.
The toolkit is integral to, and the foundation for high-quality learning and teaching at UON. It is founded on the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and was developed with input and feedback from academic, professional services staff and students as well as drawing on approaches other HEIs have taken to inclusive learning and teaching.
The tool kit is a practical resource that supports the implementation and of our Learning and Teaching Strategy and our access and participation plan. It is embedded into UON systems and processes including curriculum development, periodic review, and staff development.
The tool kit is divided into four learning and teaching themes with prompts and questions on practice that guide to supporting resources, which include guidelines, policy, case studies, and signposting to external resource.

Consider why you are using the tool kit, what is your purpose and what do you want to find out about. It could be any of the following: new module, changes to module, PSR, revalidation, portfolio review, NSS action plan, awarding gap work, whole-curricular course refresh, staff development, personal interest. Your purpose will determine how you use the tool kit, which theme(s) you access, and the type of resource that might be most useful to you.
